Kids Love Poetry.  When June Estep Fiorelli read poems to her students and her daughter, she saw joy in their faces. New words and rhyme captivated them and sparked imagination. They bounced to the music of the rhythm and laughed at the ridiculous.

Poems in Stuck Toast and Mud Pies run the gamut. They tickle the funny bone; end in a surprise; tell a story; or slip in a fact or two. From non-readers through middle school, all kids, even grown-up kids, will find something that makes them giggle, stimulates their curiosity, or even inspires.

June Estep Fiorelli is a writer, teacher, parent and activist. The author of many professional works, she currently writes for children with articles and poetry published in a number of children’s magazines. Her Young Adult biography, Fannie Lou Hamer: A Voice for Freedom was published by Avisson Press. She holds degrees from Southern Connecticut State University, Yale University, and Bridgeport University.

Stuck Toast and Mud Pies was published in partnership with Words Matter, Palmetto, Florida.

Kids love to rhyme, and love to laugh. They’ll do both when reading Stuck Toast and Mud Pies: Poems for Kids. The cool thing is, it’s a great book for families as there are poems for all ages. So, from pre-K on up, everyone will have a favorite which is a rare find when selecting books for kids. Look at poetry in a whole new way, and enjoy the ride through the land of ‘Stuck Toast’!                         Gail E Hedrick

If other children delight in this collection of poems as much as my granddaughter, parents, teachers and grandparents will be pleased. There is a variety of poems, some rhyme, some with fun to read rhythm. The different sections contain amusing, thoughtful, school-related, seasonal, -all types of poetry. My granddaughter’s favorites are the “weird”, clever imaginative animal poems.. Kids will be inspired to write their own as she did. Best of all, these poems appeal to all ages.                                                                                                        Betty A. Conard
